Common questions
How does backup work?
ORIGIN writes your training data as a single document into your own iCloud Drive. It is on by default. If iCloud is unavailable, the app keeps working local-only and backs up again when it returns. To stop backing up entirely, turn off iCloud Drive for ORIGIN in the iOS Settings app.
What happens when I get a new phone?
Sign in to the same Apple account, install ORIGIN, and it restores from the backup file in your iCloud Drive. Because there is no account system, that backup is the thing that carries your history, so keep iCloud on if you care about it.
How do I erase my data?
Deleting the app removes the local store from your phone. To remove the backup as well, delete the ORIGIN file from iCloud Drive. Nothing remains anywhere else, because nothing was ever sent anywhere else.
Why is there no account?
An account would mean a server, and a server would mean your training data sitting on someone else's computer. ORIGIN is built the other way around: no sign-in, no sync service, nothing collected. See the privacy policy.
Is there an iPad, Mac or Watch version?
No. ORIGIN is an iPhone app and requires iOS 18 or later. There is no iPad, Mac or Apple Watch build.
Something looks wrong in my numbers.
Estimated 1RM is calculated from your logged weight and reps, so a mistyped set can move a chart. Correcting or deleting the set in History recalculates everything. If the numbers still look wrong, email the lift name and the sets involved.
